DAIRY HEIFER COMPETITION

The Dairy Heifer competition is held annually in Autumn with three classes available to enter:-

1. Rising 1 year heifers

2. Rising 2 year heifers

3. Best line of Rising 2 year heifers exhibited by a person grazing stock other than their own, for a minimum of two months

  Judging is based on the following criteria:-

• Size and evenness of the line and breed 100 points

• Condition 100 points

• Dairy conformation 100 points

​

The boundaries of this competition are confined to the Methven A&P Show District, as per Association Rule 13. The District is bounded by the Rakaia River in the north, the Mitcham, Winchmore Dromore and Black Roads in the east, the south branch of the Ashburton River in the south and the Southern Alps in the west. All stock judged to be within these boundaries.
